Chocolate
Interview & Review
Chocolate, a rather new metal band based in the UK, appeals to me just like Rise Against and At The Drive-In does. The raw emotion and the art in the video and the cover album is just amazing. "Jack [Drummer] he is a really good graphic designer and often comes up with the ideas for our artwork."
Chocolate is made up of Billy (guitar/vocals and songwriter), Jack (drummer), and Noah (bassist) as a "post-hardcore" hard rock band from Hertford, UK. "(Billy) is heavily influenced by bands such as Lower Than Atlantis, Reuben, and Deftones. As for myself and Jack, we often write around Billy’s ideas so the songs can change a lot throughout the writing process depending on what each member brings to the table." The group says that what really kick-started the idea to make a band is how much they really enjoyed going to live shows.
"We were all really inspired by early Nu metal music such as Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park and personally that passion for heavy music continued when first listening to bands such as Slipknot and Bring Me The Horizon. The energy when listening to these bands and when seeing them live really inspired me to begin playing and writing heavier music."
So far the band has gotten an "consensus" of positivity from crowds at their live shows. "This is what drives us to keep making music." When I asked Noah about how he felt about mosh pits and despite the rather violent actions of the pits, Noah says he doesn't mind them happening at their shows. "I don’t mind mosh pits and I think most bands including ourselves are just looking to have a good time and hoping the audience does as well. If they want to mosh they can do and if they don’t want to they don’t have to, music is just about having a good time and I guess it’s up to the individual or band to whether they want to encourage or take part  in these behaviors."
The group have big dreams for the future, Noah says he hopes to be able to say in 5 years “HELLO WEMBLEY!”. But for the near future, the band has finished their debut EP and are releasing it "as soon as possible" and are continuing to make new music down the road which they are excited to share.
"We are also going to begin releasing our podcast show the ‘ChocPod’ and our vlogging show ‘ChocoVision’. It’s going to be very busy and a lot of content should be coming your way soon!" Noah tells me.
